I have always lived my life from a place of openness and appreciation of differences, and I am driven by an internal non-conformism. My work is my call to action.
Having lived in Peru until my early twenties, a country with huge social and economical inequalities, I feel a strong call to support the life improvement of those most vulnerable and marginalised in our society. For fifteen years I led various projects in the not-for-profit and public sectors in the UK, Spain & Peru. I worked with mental health and domestic violence charities, and in a diverse range of youth, educational and creative projects.
Thirteen years ago I decided to start a new career. I left a successful career in the performing arts sector in Spain, and moved back to London to train as a coach. I first trained as a coach with the Co-active Training Institute (CTI) and with the Foundation for Transformational Leadership, and later explored the Fundamentals of Organisation & Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC), and became a fellow of the Co-active Leadership Program at CTI.
Over the last thirteen years, I have focused on providing access to transformational leadership to more people in sectors where it is not widely available. I support social workers and senior managers from Children’s Social Services in a variety of Local Authorities in London. I work within the criminal justice system with young people and with staff members in prison. I support women affected by domestic abuse. I work with projects to change the perception of mental health.
My journey continues; I started meditating fourteen years ago as a way to manage work stress and the anxiety of transitioning into a new career in a new city. Later it became a fundamental practice that supported me to navigate a very difficult fertility journey. The last six years I have been immersed in developing further what I call "My practice"; a mix of body awareness, meditation, and other mindfulness practices. This is a lifetime work, and probably one of the best things that has happened to me. My practice led me to train as a Positive Intelligence Coach, to study with the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, learn Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction practices, and take part in NYU’s Inner MBA on conscious business and leadership, learning from teachers such as Daniel Goleman, Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield and Sharon Salzberg.
My approach to leadership is strongly influenced by my early experiences, and my beliefs about the power of mindfulness, spiritual awareness and the courage to take action.
